The Odia Community of Australia joins the global aid campaign to support the people of Nepal

Orioz, the Odia Community of Australia raised over AUS $2000 to add to the global aid aimed to bring immediate and long term relief to people of Nepal who suffered severe losses due to the recent earthquake on 25 April 2015.  According to USAID reports (NEPAL EARTHQUAKE – FACT SHEET #16, May 22, 2015) approximately 500,041 houses were destroyed and another 269,156 were damaged during the earthquake and subsequent aftershocks. Many people are still sleeping outdoors due to unstable structures and fear and with monsoon season approaching, shelter is an even more critical need.
Orioz ran a “Nepal Fund Raising” appeal to provide humanitarian support to people affected by the recent earthquake that hit Nepal. The entire fund raised will go to “Habitat for Humanity Australia”, an international not-for-profit organization whose vision is a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity is actively working on rebuilding the homes and lives of families affected and will be supporting 20,000 families in a variety of ways – distribute temporary shelter kits and assist with transitional & permanent shelter solutions.
Orioz is humbled by the response of its members who donated generously and now has successfully closed the appeal by raising a good amount. This was a huge disaster and our thoughts are with all of those affected.
